Citadel View of Villefranche,50 x 65cm or l9.5” x 25.5” Oil on canvas. This is a plein-air painting done from the Citadel of Villefranche--a village on the French Riviera near Nice. The village almost tumbles down the hillside to the seaport below. The buildings are all different colors with little blue and green shutters. Painting from life the artist can easily see all the nuances of color that a camera could never capture. The canvas is thickly tectured and has lively bright colors. I can only hope that your computer monitor can show most of these wonderful colors.
